What is Small Business Saturday?
Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign that trying to highlight small business success and encourage consumers to ‘shop local’ and show their support for small businesses within their communities. The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses throughout the year too. This year Small Business Saturday takes place on Saturday, December 3rd.

With eight branches already in London, Surrey and Kent, authentic Italian delicatessen, restaurant, cafe and wine shop Valentina Fine Foods, opened their ninth store in Clapham Junction at the taile end of last year.

The government’s decision to scrap the ‘National Minimum Wage’ and launch its new ‘National Living Wage’ on April Fools day was either brave, comical or sinister, and probably a bit of all three.
From April 1st 2016, it becomes a legal requirement for all employers to pay their employees at least £7.20 an hour. That’s a rise from £6.70 an hour, which works out at around £15,000 a year if you work a 40-hour week.

Last week, retailers from all over Europe made their way to Birmingham’s NEC for the annual Spring Fair.
Spring Fair is the UK’s largest retail trade exhibition and where retailers go to get the low down on the latest trends while sourcing and re-stocking for the coming year. The Fair spans 14 different categories and launched a wapping 330,000 new products this year to an eager and ambitious audience. The biggest trend I saw? All things British!
